Pelvic pain and endometriozis in Turkey

A Pelvic pain congress helded in our country for the first time centering endometriosis with the support of IPPS on 2011. It made a big echo not only in Turkey but all over the world. Associations founded by different professions about pelvic pain was present at the meeting. The lack of awareness and education on pelvic pain dicussed primarily at this meeting that also led to first world pelvic pain meeting. The need for guidelines for health care professionals brought to attention and an international pelvic pain book published with the contribution of different professions from all over the world. The adverse effects of palvic pain to individual and to country is more obvious due to quality of life and loss of labor with the rising of the awareness on the issue. The idea of building an association works in a multidiciplinary fashion in our country shaped over the years and finally took place in 2016. Gynecology holds a special place over the other professions in relation to pelvic pain. Endometriozis is determined to be the most common reason for pelvic pain. We named our association “Pelvic pain and endometriozis” due to emphasize the importance of endometriozis in our field of work.
